I recently stumbled across a blog post entitled “5 Reasons Why Many Christian Girls Remain Single” and I thought it was absolutely genius! 3 of these reasons really stood out to me, but If any of you guys would like to read the original post to see all 5, I will include a link in the description bar of this video. Reason Number 1 Christian Girls remain Single: Girls want to marry Jesus, not a disciple of Jesus.

One issue that this blog talks about are that some women have set impossibly high standards. Standards that literally only Jesus could reach. Sorry girls, but not all of us can walk on water and raise the dead ok?! Now I’m not at all saying that it’s wrong to have high standards because some of you ladies seem to just settle for any dirtbag that has a pulse or a few dollars in their pocket… but I’m not talking to you.

I’m talking to the type of women who are so incredibly picky to a fault. One of the best advices that I got when going through pre marital counseling I received was to try and find a person whose flaws I didn’t mind living with for the rest of my life. This isn’t to say that growth doesn’t take place, but the reality is that we still live in a fallen world and no one person is ever going to be perfect.

Yes, even disciples of Christ still have vices and demons that they’re wrestling with. So realize that if you’re ever going to find that special someone, that you’re going to have to be realistic in what you expect from them. Reason Number 2 Christian Girls remain Single: They see themselves as princess’s but don’t care to treat their man as a prince.

The reality is that as a daughter of God you indeed are a princess. You deserve to be treated well and looked after! It’s not at all wrong to want a man who treats you with romantic gestures and goes out of his way to make sure you’re ok.

However, this is in fact supposed to be a two way street! Some women in their pursuit of being a princess, don’t ever share or give up control to their prince. And to many of us, it seems that some women are looking for slaves and not princes. I’ve personally been in relationships where this was the case and it can be exhausting. As a man, I’ve given and given over and over with little to no reciprocation.

In a healthy relationship there has to be a degree of give and take. This does mean at times that you will get your way and at other times, it does mean that you need to compromise and serve. For me, and most guys I have spoken to, there is only so long that we care to be in a one sided relationship.

Culture dictates that men are to pay for dinner, buy her gifts, remember every anniversary and basically bend over backwards for the women. But just think, how would you feel if you were expected to do all these things and got nothing in return. Be sure to let them know their efforts are appreciated and occasionally go out of your way to do something special for Him!

In fact, I would suggest that for every time He does something special, that you reciprocate before expecting anything in addition from Him. And just to be clear, I know that some worldly guys will try to play this card to manipulate women into sexual reciprocity. Again, not the type of thing I’m talking about.

In fact, if you’ve got a guy like this in your life, it’s probably better that you dump his sorry butt, as being single would be a HUGE upgrade for you. You don’t need that kind of oppression in your life. But I digress… Many of us won’t admit it, but as men, we like receiving gifts or being treated out to surprise dates or things like that. But then again, it doesn’t really have to be something that you spend money on. For many of you ladies, feeling loved is key, but for us guys, being respected is what speaks to us most loudly.

There’s not much that will make us feel more special than the woman we love telling us how much she respects us and appreciates the stability of character and effort that we put into taking care of her. Sometimes it’s nice to know that you feel the same way about us. Reason number 3 christian girls remain single: they like being pursued, but don’t want to be caught I get this one.

Committing to a relationship can be hard. And while stereotypically we say that it’s the guy who is scared of commitment, I have met many Christian guys who feel that it’s actually the opposite. Many guys feel like the girl is just playing games or hasn’t really grown up. And look, I get it- many women love the thrill of the pursuit and have fully embraced the whole be an individual thing, but I’ve met several guys who feel as though there are too many girls in the world and not enough women.

I get that being pursued feels great, and many guys would even say that we enjoy pursuing, but at some point, the whole cat and mouse game gets old and will start looking a lot like stinginess or arrogance. I’ve spoke with countless guys who felt that they were trying to convince the girl to give things a shot- almost as though they had to canvass her as to why things could work out well between them. Fact: No guy wants to be with a woman who doesn’t realize and acknowledge his value too.

As always though, these are just my thoughts on the issue and I’m open to yours. Why do you think so many christian girls remain single and what is your advice to them?
